今天我们想要介绍的故事主人公便是JWT南非分公司创始人的TIM HAMILTON RUSSELL。
TIM 在上世纪70年代因为投身于南非的广告事业并创办了JWT的南非分公司，令他收获颇丰！可即便如此，TIM似乎就是要寻找那个属于他自己的“快乐源泉！”- 葡萄酒！
以下是媒体对于TIM的儿子ANTHONY 也是现任庄主的采访实录，ANTHONY回忆了父辈寻找“快乐源泉”的心酸以及心路历程。我们似乎在他的表述中发现他父亲即使做了全球第一个广告公司的老板都不如酿酒开心！

汉密尔顿拉塞尔酒庄始与我父亲的满腔热情。70年代的他创立了J Walter Thompson广告公司且取得巨大的成功，但他一直怀揣着一个酿酒的梦想。
他在斯泰伦博斯寻找种植葡萄的土地，但要么太贵要么根本没有可售的。他已经寻找了很多年了，于是他当时的葡萄酒导师德索(Dezso Pongracz)建议他离开传统的葡萄酒种植区去远方寻找。在德索的鼓励下，我父亲前往遥远的西开普Bredasdorp做了一系列探索。
感谢上天的眷顾，不仅是因为德索也Dezso特别热衷于黑皮诺葡萄酒，而且我父亲也十分赞同去开辟一个全新的产区的想法。我父亲在赫玛努斯有着悠久的家族史，可以追溯到我祖父在20世纪30年代来到这里，于二战结束后在这里买了一套房子。所以我们和这个地区有着巨大的情感联系，这是我们现在正在出售的布雷玛农场，就在哈玛努斯的郊外，我父亲去过并爱上了他。这里对我父亲而言意义重大且又距离又近，他会亲自去挖开土壤，对比这些开挖出的风土是否能够满足他们想要的种植的葡萄酒风格。
但是葡萄树会长出来吗？这是一个全新的产区，所有人都认为他的决定是疯狂的。不过，这里关键的特点是，他非常靠南，当这里成为葡萄酒产区时，它将是整个非洲最凸显的葡萄酒生产区。另外，更吸引我父亲的是，再往南就是欧洲生产优质葡萄酒的维度带了！我父亲的理念就是为了娇贵的葡萄找寻凉爽的气候区域，事实证明，它奏效了！这是一个令人难以置信的风险甚至是场赌博。在那个年代，农田并没有现在那么昂贵且种地也有利于税收的补贴，我父亲在J Walter Thompson获得了不错的成绩和丰厚的收入从而使得他可以承担在一个荒芜之地取得成功所需要冒得巨大风险！

Hamilton Russell Vineyards began with a passion of my father’s. he was in advertising for Jay Walter Thompson very successfully in the 70s and had always wanted to farm. he looked in Stellenbosh for something the farms were either too expensive or not available and he spent many many years looking and his wine mentor at the time called Dezso Pongracz suggested he looked a little further field out of the conventional wine growing areas. they were doing research in Bredasdorp at the time and he encouraged my father to look further field and that was our stroke of good fortune not only with Dezso particularly keen on the idea of working with Pinot Noir but he liked the idea of finding somewhere new altogether. my father had a long family history with Hermanus, dating back to my grandfather coming here in the 1930s buying a house here just after the Second world War. so there was this enormous emotional connection with the area serendipitously this farm Braemar that we're on now was for sale just outside Hamanus my father visited it and fell in love with it. it was so close to a place of great meaning to him and he would he dug holes over it to see at the time not what sort of soil they're looking for the kind of wine style they wanted but would vines grow? this was a whole new area everyone thought he was mad to get involved. but the key features were very close to the sea further south at the time once it became a wine farm it would have been the most suddenly wine producer in all of Africa and being further south closer to the lines of latitude where fine wines were made in Europe it was something that attracted him. the whole thinking was cooler climate.Cooler climate for the noble great varieties. and as it turns out it worked incredibly well it was an incredible risk and quite a gamble. farmland was inexpensive in those days it was very tax efficient to go farming and my father was earning sufficient income very successfully at Jay Walter Thompson to take the risks involved in trying a completely new area and out of the way place.
每一个伟大的产品都离不开人，而对于每一个人而言，TA所需要的不仅仅是天赋更重要的是积累！底层逻辑，基本盘对于每一个人而言都非常的重要，哪怕你能拥有一个IPHONE的雏形，但如果你没有乔布斯那般惊人的毅力和过往的经历，你仍然无法创造出这个伟大的产品！葡萄酒也是一样的，风土很重要，或者说占据了一瓶伟大葡萄酒的60%以上甚至会更多，但是如果没有酿酒师和其团队的精益求精，再好的土壤也成就不了可以传承流芳百世的伟大艺术品！
