The exhibition Membrane by artist PinkCY concluded on April 05, 2026, at Quotation Space, Art Utopia Union (AUU). Centered on the metaphor of the “soft shell,” the exhibition explored the pliable interface between self and world—a perceptible, malleable, living medium that both isolates and connects.

We live wrapped in layers. Membrane turns its attention to the “soft” interface: when growth is supported by structure, when structure learns to breathe, when breath forms a circuit—the shell is no longer a barrier of isolation, but a living medium. It is soft, because it needs to feel; it becomes a shell, because it must protect.

In the exhibited works, the “membrane” appears in multiple forms: sometimes as a vessel of memory, shaping fragile emotions into form; sometimes as a filter of perception, translating external noise into inner vibrations; sometimes as an unfinished system, quietly iterating in closure while awaiting the moment of rupture. Together, these forms constitute a syntax that narrates the ongoing negotiation between protection and openness, vulnerability and resilience.

“Softness” here is a profound agency—not weakness, but the capacity to absorb, transform, and reorganize. The membrane is a buffer zone that absorbs impact without rebounding; an incubation chamber that allows time to flow at different densities; and an interface that gives contour and warmth to invisible emotions.

This exhibition invites viewers to engage in a tactile form of seeing: to approach forms that seem familiar yet elusive, to linger among membranes, pores, veins, and mist. You may notice that some boundaries are not rigid—they pulse gently with your gaze; some structures are not closed—they inhale and exhale light and air in slow rhythms.

Ultimately, Membrane presents not a definitive future form, but a wisdom of survival for life within technological environments—how to remain un-suffocated within wrapping, how to remain undissolved in connection; how to make the shell a regulable skin rather than a wall of confinement. Here, the membrane is not an answer, but a slightly trembling mirror: reflecting the boundary between each of us and the outside world—a boundary that is constantly being perceived, shaped, and gently reset.
