2026 米兰设计周 |《文明的指向》展览策展 & 新品发布

在世界被技术的发展与系统的冲突不断冲击的当下,人类文明正站在一个临界点。“新街区Nuovo Distretto”是小红书设计周开源城市计划在米兰的一次实践,希望在米兰唐人街社区建立一种面向未来的深层合作——基于相互理解和尊重,追求可持续的共同发展。展区由The Door,RPDC Windows,积木街道以及对话剧场共同构成,以设计为媒介,探讨不同文化之间合作的新路径。以及在高度不确定的未来中,人类将如何用设计重新定义自己的世界。

In a time when the world is constantly reshaped by technological advancement and systemic conflicts, human civilization stands at a critical threshold. New District is a Milan-based initiative of the Open Source City Project, powered by RDW (RPDC Design Week). Through this project, we hope to establish a deeper form of collaboration within the Sarpi community —one built on mutual understanding, respect, and a shared pursuit of sustainable development. The exhibition area is composed of The Door, RPDC Windows, Street Blocks, and the Dialogue Theatre. Using design as a medium, we explore new pathways for collaboration between cultures and reflect on how humanity may redefine its world through design in an increasingly uncertain future.

“如果站得足够远,人类文明的发展从来都是有指向的: 无论过程有多么残酷、动荡与反复,但结果的指向始终未变。我们今天所面对的世界,又将迎来一次波动。而这种波动早已无法仅凭一群人、一个组织或者一个国家就能面对。那么作为设计师,我们如何用设计思维去解决,去团结,去形成共识?

这个展览即展示中国新一代设计师的面貌,也尝试加入到人类前言同步的设计理论命题中去。文明的指向,是中国古老文明现代化的指向,也是人类文明迈向新阶段的指向。”

···Navigating the Earth

If we step back far enough, the development of human civilization has always carried a direction. No matter how cruel, turbulent, or repetitive the process may be, the trajectory of its outcome has never truly changed. The world we face today is approaching another moment of upheaval. And this time, such turbulence can no longer be confronted by a single group, an organization, or even a nation alone. As designers, how can we use design thinking to respond, to connect, and to build shared understanding?

This exhibition presents the emerging voices of a new generation of Chinese designers, while also attempting to engage with the broader theoretical questions of design that evolve alongside human civilization.The direction of civilization reflects both the modernization of China’s ancient cultural heritage and the collective movement of humanity toward a new stage.

《文明的指向》共邀请了 11 组设计师/设计工作室联合展出,由 Studio Profile 进行展陈的设计。工作室作为策展方的同时,也以参展工作室的身份带来了限量艺术系列的 Rectangle 扶手椅以及 Dialogue 镜子,同时,也带来了 2026 的新品 Strada 茶几

Navigating the Earth features a collaborative exhibition of 11 designers/design studios, with the exhibition design meticulously crafted by Studio Profile. In their dual role as both curator and participant, the studio showcases the Rectangle Armchair and Dialogue Mirror from our limited-edition art series, alongside the debut of their 2026 Strada coffee table.

Strada 茶几从材料特性与文化语义的双重视角出发,选取竹与铝板作为主要构成元素,围绕“秩序”这一核心线索展开材料的组合与对话。竹子作为一种天然材料,蕴含着明确的秩序感:其笔直的杆身、规律分布的竹节,以及枝条有节奏的着生方式,体现出自然生长中的结构逻辑。这种结构秩序本身亦承载着东方文化中“格物”与“自然理法”的审美意象。

The Strada Coffee Table explores the intersection of material properties and cultural semantics. Utilizing bamboo and aluminum as its primary elements, the design unfolds through a curated dialogue centered on the core concept of "Order."As a natural medium, bamboo possesses an inherent sense of order. Its linear culms, rhythmic nodes, and the systematic growth of its branches manifest a structural logic born of nature. In Eastern philosophy, this structural integrity embodies the aesthetic ideals of Gewu (the investigation of things) and the "Laws of Nature."

与之对应,桌面选用铝板,表面施以直纹拉丝处理,是一种典型的工业化表达。拉丝纹理以方向性、连续性与均质感强化了视觉上的秩序感,呈现出机械加工所带来的精确与理性。竹与铝板在形式上共享“秩序”的语言,但其来源迥异:一为自然的生长秩序,一为工业的加工秩序。世界被技术的发展与系统的冲突不断冲击的当下,人类文明正站在一个临界点。

In contrast, the aluminum tabletop—finished with a linear brushed texture—serves as a definitive industrial expression. The directional, continuous, and homogenous grain heightens a visual sense of order, projecting the precision and rationality of mechanical processing. While both materials speak the language of "order," their origins are worlds apart: one rooted in the organic rhythm of growth, the other in the calculated discipline of industry.

在构成关系上,设计将竹置于铝板之下,通过上下层叠的方式,将两种材料并置与重组。竹的自然属性与传统意象,与铝板的现代材质与技术语言之间形成对照与交织,共同构建出一种融合文化记忆与当代功能的表达方式。这种秩序不是对某一传统的复刻,也不是对工业审美的简单借用,而是在材料的对话中寻找一种新的平衡,使空间在理性结构之上,仍保有来自自然的肌理。

Architecturally, the design places the bamboo beneath the aluminum, juxtaposing and reorganizing the two materials through a vertical layering. The natural attributes and traditional symbolism of bamboo interlace with the modern materiality and technical vocabulary of aluminum. Together, they construct a contemporary narrative that bridges cultural memory with functional utility. This "order" is neither a mere replica of tradition nor a superficial adoption of industrial aesthetics; rather, it is a search for a new equilibrium—ensuring that within a rational structure, the space retains a tactile connection to the textures of the natural world.

While both materials speak the language of "order," their origins are worlds apart: one rooted in the organic rhythm of growth, the other in the calculated discipline of industry. Beyond the green-legged version on display, the Strada series is also available with black legs and comes in a circular silhouette.

Serving as the curator for "Navigating the Earth," Frank Chou has created a conversational theater that invites all visitors to join an open dialogue, reconsidering how design intertwines with the progress of civilization.
