While beer consumption slightly decreased in the first half of the year, wine remained stagnant at -4%, and other spirits and ready-to-drink beverages saw a growth of +1%. The primary reasons for this shift seem to be related to a decrease in economic availability and more "cautious" spending, particularly among the younger generation facing greater pressures due to factors such as rising interest rates, debt, food inflation, increased taxes, and rising energy costs. However, the IWSR report suggests that many people claim economic security is better compared to the first few months of 2023. Anastasia Timofeeva, Senior Consumer Insights Manager at IWSR, notes that if current consumption patterns remain negative, consumers report job security is high, indicating optimism about the future. This suggests that the ongoing changes are not structural, and there may be a rebound in the coming months. At least in the short term, one thing is certain: an increase in the consumption of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. In 2023, sales are expected to grow by 5%, exceeding €13 billion in value. It is estimated that from now until 2027, sales in the no/low-alcohol category will grow by 6% annually (driven primarily by non-alcoholic beverages with a growth rate of +7%, and for beverages with lower alcohol content, an estimated annual growth rate of +3%).

This is demonstrated by the top position secured in "The World’s Best Rosés," the most renowned global wine monitoring and price comparison portal, which recognizes Trentodoc Maso Martis Rose Extra Brut as the best rosé. This exceptional rosé is one of the "pink pearls" of Trentino, produced by the Stelzer family-led company (Antonio, Roberta, and daughters Alessandra and Maddalena). The top 10 features four Spanish wines, three French, two Italian, and one Australian. In second place, we venture to Spain with Bodegas Antidoto's Ribera del Duero "Le Rose," preceding, to complete the podium, Château d’Esclans' Côtes de Provence "Les Clans" Rose, one of the flagship wineries for rosé wines owned by the LVMH giant.

With 5 Docg, 21 Doc, and 15 Igt designations in Lombardy, accounting for about 90% of the production being of high quality, wine is becoming an increasingly strategic tool for promoting local tourism in our region. According to a survey in the region, wine, along with food, is the second asset that tourism operators value. In this context, agricultural enterprises can become protagonists through the opportunities offered by wine tourism.
