Combining his Danish and Filipino identity, Daniel approaches painting with a colorful and intuitive style that beautifully reflects his cultural heritage. His artistic homage not only celebrates his ancestors but also draws inspiration from the influences of his childhood, including the captivating world of 'street-culture' where he first began to wield a paintbrush. Embracing a playful and free-spirited approach, Daniel weaves captivating stories onto his canvas, inspired by the tapestry of his everyday life and long-forgotten memories.
These painted narratives gracefully encompass the spectrum of human emotions, ranging from hope and despair to humor and everything in between. It's not just the content that Daniel's artistry encompasses; it's also the language and processes embedded within the paint itself—layers, erasures, and reworking giving voice to the art form.
Daniel's paintings are a testament to his creative exploration. "Within the square canvas, the world I can create feels boundless," Daniel expresses. Guided by intuition, he masterfully crafts contrasts between colors to establish a profound sense of balance and harmony. Most of Daniel's work finds its roots in his everyday experiences, intertwined with the tender threads of cherished memories from years gone by. Emotional depth plays a pivotal role in his art, manifesting in the innocent playfulness of children or the bittersweet melancholy of realizing the passing of time and youth. Through his art, Daniel breathes life into emotions and experiences, capturing the essence of human existence with each stroke of the brush.

出⽣于哥本哈根的丹麦和菲律宾混⾎视觉艺术家，毕业于海牙皇家艺术学院，⽬前在阿姆斯特丹⼯作⽣活。作为⼀名画家，也从事拼贴、纺织纤维艺术和雕塑创作。结合他的 "丹麦和菲律宾⾝份"，丹尼尔以⾊彩斑斓和直观的绘画⽅式向他的⽂化背景致敬。受到童年经历的影响比如最初激发丹尼尔学习绘画的 "街头⽂化"，使他逐渐形成了以⼀种俏⽪、轻松的⽅式，描绘他由⽇常⽣活和逝去的记忆中汲取灵感编织⽽成的故事。丹尼尔的艺术语⾔不仅限于画⾯的图像内容，同时还包括构成画作的颜料的质地、笔触的机理和对画⾯反复加⼯打磨的过程。

Daniel Jacobsen
Daniel Jacobsen is a visual-artist based in Amsterdam. He recently graduated from Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. He consider’s himself as a painter, but also works with collage, textiles and sculptures. Combining his ‘danish and filipino identity’, Daniel’s colourful and intuitive approach to paintings, pays homage to his cultural background. Not only limiting his homage to his ancestors, but also childhood- influence such as “street-culture” where Daniel first learned to paint.
