说到白酒
想到三年前的一件事
新来一个外教Chris
校区让Icey去接待
当时情况是他刚从自己的国家飞来
带他吃过饭后
需要去超市买生活必需品
记得进去后
他提起一桶白酒就要去结账
我知道他一定是想要买纯净水而非酒
遂赶紧拦住
提醒他这是酒
果然他露出不可思议的表情
然后笑着问我那水在哪里
所以这里的白酒
该如何用英语告诉刚来中国的Chris
很多人都以为是white wine
其实
此白酒非彼白酒
Wine&White wine
wine作名词，意思是葡萄酒、果蔬酒；深紫红色（*大概也是因为常见的葡萄酒差不多是这个颜色）
Wine is an alcoholic beverage, made of fermented fruit juice, usually from grapes.
葡萄酒是一种酒精饮料，由发酵的果汁制成，通常来自葡萄。
而white wine是指白葡萄酒，一般用白品种葡萄酿制而成，所以white wine是葡萄酒的一种。
众所周知，中国的白酒属于烈酒（a strong alcoholic drink），这也是为什么万万不能把中国的白酒用white wine来介绍给歪果仁。
“烈酒”在英文中是有专门的单词的→liquor：烈性酒。
She drinks wine and beer but no liquor.她喝葡萄酒和啤酒，但不沾烈性酒。
中国白酒
如果是翻译“中国白酒”这一专有名词，可以用Liquor and Spirits，或者 Chinese spirits，甚至可以直接音译Baijiu。
因为中国酒业协会早已于2020年4月25日正式向海关总署提出申请，建议将“中国白酒”的英文翻译更改为“Chinese Baijiu”，当然该申请也通过了。
In China, no alcohol is more representative than Chinese liquor and at some point, Chinese alcohol culture is Chinese liquor culture.
在中国，没有什么酒比中国白酒更具有代表性，在某种程度上，中国酒文化就是中国白酒文化。
当然如果是对酒精过敏的朋友，可千万不要任性碰酒呀～
