Artist: Dai JianYong (Coca Dai) Born in Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province, China. Currently lives and works in Berlin. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts at Shanghai University with a Bachelor’s degree in Design.
In April 2010, he held a solo exhibition at the Beijing Caochangdi Photography Season of the Rencontres d’Arles International Photography Festival (France). In 2012, he won an award at the Pingyao International Photography Festival in Shanxi. In 2013, he was nominated for the Three Shadows Photography Award in Beijing. In 2014, he was named New Sharp Photographer of the Year (No.1) by Photography Unlimited website. In 2015, he received the Martin Parr Photography Book Award (Martin Parr is President of Magnum Photos). In 2016, his work Zhu Fengjuan was exhibited in the “Snacks” group exhibition at the Power Station of Art (Shanghai Contemporary Art Museum), and his work One Hundred Thousand People Looking at Mobile Phones was acquired by the White Rabbit Gallery in Sydney, Australia.
His works have spread widely on the internet and have been extensively published in both print and online media. He has been praised by critics as “China’s photographer closest to reality.”
