语言里有一类表达，被称作 approximator——“sort of”、“kind of”、“something like that”。它们常常被视为含混，但含混并不是失效，而是一种更诚实的接近。
很多东西本来就无法被准确说出。它们存在于一个手势、一种质感、一块颜色、一段关系，或一个尚未完成的形状里。语言只能靠近它们，却无法完全抵达。“Something like that” 不是一个答案。它更像是说话者故意留下的一处空隙，一段轻盈的空白。它保留了感受尚未被命名之前的状态，也鼓励观众用自己的经验去靠近。
这次展览邀请八位艺术家带来近期的作品，它们可以是过程中的、模糊的、临时的；也可以是已经成形，却仍然保留缝隙的。我们关心的是那些正在发生的东西：一个念头如何还没被说清，却已经开始成形。它们可以彼此靠近，彼此回应，也可以保持各自的沉默。
作为创作者，我们常常在向朋友描述正在做的作品时，客观的描述完灵感、材料和制作方法之后，通常会补充一句，你知道的。 话说到一半，彼此已经明白，于是语言停下来，把剩下的部分交给感知。
In language, there is a class of expressions known as approximators—“sort of,” “kind of,” “something like that.” These are often dismissed as vagueness; yet vagueness is not a failure but a more honest way of approaching the truth.
Many things are meant to remain unspoken. They exist within a gesture, a texture, a patch of color, a relationship, or a shape that is not yet finalized. Language can lean toward them, but it can never fully arrive. “Something like that” is not an answer. It is a deliberate opening, a light and airy void. It preserves the state of a feeling before it is named, inviting the audience to draw closer with their own experiences.
This exhibition brings together the recent works of eight artists. These works may be in-progress, blurred, or temporary; or they may be fully formed yet still porous. We are interested in things in the making: how a thought begins to take shape before it can be clearly articulated. They may gravitate toward one another and respond, or they may remain in the silence.
As artists, we often find ourselves describing our work to a friend—detailing the inspiration, the materials, and the process—only to end with a simple: “You know...” The conversation pauses there; the understanding is already mutual. Words end, and perception begins.
