RE-DESIGNING REALITY
前言
FOREWORD
本次展览呈现了一门跨学科思辨设计课程的成果，探讨视觉传达如何超越传统的平面表达，延伸至沉浸式、互动性与体验性的叙事形态。通过世界建构、批判性反思与实验性创作，学生构建出一系列思辨性的现实情境，借此追问物件、语言、系统与环境如何塑造我们对未来的认知。
课程立足于设计虚构（design fiction）、叙事性环境与新兴技术的交汇点，鼓励学生将思辨设计作为一种兼具创造性与批判性的方法。学生并非致力于解决既有问题，而是去想象不同的文化、系统与未来，以挑战人们关于传播、身份、技术、生态与社会经验的既定假设。最终的作品如同来自虚构现实的文化造物，游走于虚构与可能之间。
课程贯穿三个相互关联的主题板块：以物件与人造物为媒介的民族志（ethnography）研究；以语言与制图为路径的符号志（semiography）探索；以及以运动与体验为切入点的空间映射（spatial mapping）实践。这些框架引导学生思考意义如何在叙事、材料性、互动与环境之间的关系中被建构出来。
展览融合视觉传达、装置、影像、版画、投影、数字媒介以及包括 VR、AR、MR 在内的沉浸式技术。观众被邀请穿行于思辨性的环境之中，解读虚构的人造物，参与那些模糊物理与虚拟边界的体验。部分作品构想出脆弱的未来生态或被重塑的仪式，另一些则探讨被媒介化的身份、破碎的传播系统与想象中的基础设施。
贯穿整个展览的核心理念是：思辨实践并非预测未来，而是激发追问。这些作品不提供已然完成的未来图景，而是开辟出可供阐释、参与与批判性反思的空间。整体而言，展览展现了设计如何作为叙事、思辨与体验性探究的工具，为我们重新思考当下处境与想象未来开启新的可能。
This exhibition presents the culmination of an interdisciplinary speculative design module exploring how visual communication can extend beyond conventional graphic outcomes into immersive, interactive, and experiential forms of storytelling. Through world-building, critical reflection, and experimental making, students have developed speculative realities that question how objects, language, systems, and environments shape our understanding of the future.
Positioned at the intersection of design fiction, narrative environments, and emerging technologies, the module encouraged students to use speculative design as both a creative and critical methodology. Rather than solving existing problems, students imagined alternative cultures, systems, and futures that challenge assumptions surrounding communication, identity, technology, ecology, and social experience. The resulting works operate as cultural artifacts from imagined realities, moving between fiction and possibility.
Throughout the module, students worked across three interconnected thematic rotations: ethnography through objects and artifacts; semiography through language and cartography; and spatial mapping through movement and experience. These frameworks encouraged students to consider how meaning is constructed through relationships between narrative, materiality, interaction, and environment.
The exhibition combines visual communication, installation, moving image, printmaking, projection, digital media, and immersive technologies including VR, AR, and MR. Visitors are invited to navigate speculative environments, interpret fictional artifacts, and engage with experiences that blur the boundaries between the physical and virtual. Some projects propose fragile future ecologies or altered rituals, while others explore mediated identities, fragmented communication systems, and imagined infrastructures.
Underlying the exhibition is the idea that speculative practice is not about prediction, but provocation. Rather than offering resolved futures, these works create spaces for interpretation, participation, and critical reflection. Collectively, the exhibition demonstrates how design can function as a tool for storytelling, speculation, and experiential inquiry opening new possibilities for how we engage with both present conditions and imagined futures.

ICI设计季（ICI Design Season）是厦门大学创意与创新学院以举办毕业设计展为契机推出的年度学术活动品牌，旨在让设计走出校园，与城市更新、乡村振兴、创意产业、AI技术的发展互动，向社会提供创新成果，分享人们对美好生活的需要和愿望。
厦门大学创意与创新学院（Institute of Creativity and Innovation，Xiamen University）是厦门大学（XMU）与英国创意艺术大学（UCA）在艺术设计领域开展合作，经教育部2019年批准成立的厦门大学首个中外合作办学机构，于2020年9月开始办学。学院融合中英双方先进教育理念和特色教育资源，致力于培养一批时代所需的，具有全球视野、批判性思维、先进创意理念与创新能力的高素质、应用型本科拔尖创新人才。
