Melting Grid——A Solo Exhibition of Pan Xiaorong
《融化的格子》呈现了潘小荣近年来对中心化、稳定结构的持续发问与探索。潘小荣的格子曾象征一种可被掌控的秩序，在本次展出的新系列中，它已不再依赖某种先验的稳定而存在。借用Jacques Derrida 关于结构的思考，结构之所以成立，并非因为拥有稳固的中心，而是依赖差异的延宕与不断生成；我们或许可以重新理解这些“融化”的格子：它们在自身之中显露出潜伏的偶然性。
潘小荣的创作始终建立在对材料经验的持续积累之上。从针刮、刀割到色粉、丙烯与水的反复叠加，逐步感知材料之间的渗透、溢出与覆盖，开始侵蚀结构本身，并使画面在控制与失控之间维持张力，形成不断差异化的能量场。在这一阶段，格与格不再指向某个确定的终点，而成为对秩序与偶然关系的再思考和再开放。相较以往，更为鲜艳、明亮的色彩在画面中流动，使这种开放性带有一种轻盈的气质。
Melting Grid presents Pan Xiaorong’srecent exploration and questioning of centralized and stable structures.Pan Xiaorong’s grids once symbolized an order that seemed controllable. In the new works presented in this exhibition, they no longer rely on any pre-existing stability.Drawing on the thinking of Jacques Derrida about structure, that a structure does not exist because it has a firm center, but because it is sustained through difference and continuous deferral; we may begin to understand these“melting” grids in a new way: they reveal the element of chance already hidden within them.
Pan Xiaorong’spractice has always grown out of long-term experience with materials. From scraping with needles and cutting with blades to the repeated layering of pastel, acrylic, and water, he gradually observes how materials seep, overflow, and cover one another. These processes begin to erode the structure itself, keeping the image in a state of tension between control and loss of control, and forming a field of constantly shifting differences. At this stage, each grid no longer points toward a fixed end, but opens a new reflection on the relationship between order and chance. Compared with his earlier works, brighter and more vivid colors now move across the surface, giving this openness a light and airy quality.
