展览前言

本次展览呈现了艺术家乔曼·里巴尔塔在自2017年至今在中国生活期间创作的一系列陶瓷与绘画作品。这些作品不仅记录了他艺术风格的发展，更映射出一条持续的极为个人化的文化学习与适应之路。

“唯有在与自然的交融中，人才能成为真实的自己——沃尔特·惠特曼《草叶集》”，艺术家持续探索着自然如何以一种跨文化的语言来连接东西方；作品中的山川、竹子、樱桃与燕子并非仅是装饰纹样，更是既存在于中国文人画中亦流淌于西方诗歌中的精神实体，里巴尔塔通过描绘自然、施釉等方式书写天人合一的理念，而青花作为数个世纪以来技艺、艺术与文化共通的媒介也成了他创作中最具力量的词汇。

里巴尔塔直面情感的复杂性，他以绘画的语言与他故乡的诗人约瑟普·卡纳共同探讨理性的局限，也在乔治·布拉桑的诗歌中品尝归属与流离、惊喜与不安的甜苦。正如燕子每年跨越大陆，在加泰罗尼亚筑巢，也在中国筑巢，却不专属于任何一片土地——里巴尔塔亦栖居于这样的“门槛”之上：既非内亦非外，介于家与远方、词语与沉默之间。故这些作品背后并非是一个圆满融入的故事，而是一段诚实的注视：一位本想传道授业的艺术家却发现自己成了从头学起的学生，一位试图安家的异乡人却心头萦绕着远方的重量。

这场展览既是致敬，也是证言——礼赞文化交融之美，同时也为那些未曾言说的、暧昧不清的、以及身处两个世界之间那深植于内心的生命实感，默默地留出了一方空间。

This exhibition presents a series of ceramic and drawing works created by the artist Jaume Ribalta during his life and practice in China since 2017. These works not only trace the development of his artistic language, but also reflect an ongoing and deeply personal process of cultural learning and adaptation.

Echoing Walt Whitman’s words in Leaves of Grass—“Only in communion with nature can one become truly oneself”—Ribalta’s practice continually explores how nature functions as a cross-cultural language that connects East and West. The mountains and waters, bamboo, cherry, and swallow in his works appear not merely as decorative motifs, but as spiritual entities that exist both in Chinese literati painting and flow through the currents of Western poetry. Through acts of depiction, glazing, and material engagement, Ribalta articulates an understanding of the unity between humanity and nature. Blue-and-white porcelain, a medium that for centuries has embodied shared techniques, aesthetics, and cultural exchange, becomes one of the most powerful vocabularies in his artistic expression.

Ribalta confronts the complexity of emotion head-on. Through the language of painting, he explores the limits of reason alongside Josep Carner, the poet of his homeland, and tastes the bittersweetness of belonging and displacement, wonder and unease, in the songs of Georges Brassens. Like the swallow that crosses continents each year—nesting in Catalonia and in China, yet belonging exclusively to no territory—Ribalta inhabits this very "threshold": neither inside nor outside, suspended between home and elsewhere, between word and silence. Thus, behind these works lies not a story of seamless integration, but an honest observation: an artist who came to teach, yet found himself learning everything anew; a foreigner who builds a home while still feeling the weight of elsewhere.

This exhibition is therefore both a tribute and a testimony—celebrating the beauty of cultural interweaving, while quietly making space for what remains unspoken, ambiguous, and deeply felt in a life lived between worlds.
